Despite the forecast of high winds and heavy rain 6 riders and 1 in civvies arrived at the Udder farm shop for coffee. Myself, Charlie, Mary and Jenny were going on the ride while Jackie and Lorraine we’re heading back home before the rain got too heavy and Richard N was in his nice dry car. Due to the inclement weather I decided to change the route and take a shorter one via Semley. So the 4 of us set off in the rain to Stour Row then back to the A30 and across to Motcombe via Lox Lane. Up through Motcombe and across the A350 to Semley then made our way to Tisbury. We arrived at the Boot Inn dripping wet but received a warm welcome and hot coffee and were able to dry off by the fire. I was expecting Ken to join us for the ride back but given the weather conditions wasn’t surprised he’d found more pressing things to do. After a hearty lunch of soup, chips and Baguettes we managed to drag ourselves back out into the rain. Down the High Street then up the lane to Tuckingmill which was like riding through a river. Past Pythouse and back to Semley then up the long drag to Donhead St Mary and out to the A350 and into Shaftsbury where Mary and Jenny went their separate ways and Charlie and I headed towards Stour Row again and then went our own ways. Although the rain never stopped the whole ride and the wind was strong at times it was warm and quite a pleasant ride. After a nice hot shower and watching a great rugby match all was well with the world. Thanks to those who joined me.
